On the 6th-7th September 2019 young people from the diocese joined the Briars team as they trained to be young Eucharistic Ministers. Over twenty four hours we learned about the origins of communion through the Jewish celebration of Passover. We also learnt about sacrifice and what it means to be a Eucharistic Minister. Next we wrote letters to our future selves to read on the day of their commissioning mass.We also wrote letters to refugees after learning about the Lampedusa cross. We experienced a session on how to be a Eucharistic Minister where we learnt how to deliver the body and blood of Christ.
The retreat ended with Mass celebrated with the parish where we were temporarily commissioned to be Eucharistic Ministers. Our official commissioning will be in November.
