The Briars was lucky enough to be home to Year 9 from St.Thomas Moore on the 11th-16th November.

During our first evening together we got to know the team and each other better by playing games that could only be completed through teamwork. Our teamwork skills were tested further when a sudden power cut meant that we had to use team support and spirit to help play giant Jenga in the dark!

On our first full day together we ventured into the elements to experience climbing and team building challenges provided by Acclimbaize. Everyone enjoyed the challenges and a few fears of heights were conquered by the end of the day. In the evening we produced minute movies where the film and theme had been hidden and the rest of the group had to figure our what movie each group was portraying.

On Wednesday evening we solved clues in our team to find a missing team member. In the evening we experienced the Sacrament of Reconciliation during which we reflected on ourselves, our actions and the forgiveness of God.

On Thursday we learnt about CAFOD and their work, in our groups we designed devices that would help to combat climate change. There was an amazing array of devices from solar powered iceberg makers that made whale noises to devices that used rubbish it collected to create edible food!

Our Cafod morning prayer created by a small group

We celebrated our community on Thursday evening with mass and a final night prayer.

On our final morning together we wrote messages of encouragement for each other before saying goodbye and heading home.
