Year 7 from De Lisle Collage stayed at the Briars from the 18th-22nd November for a jam packed week full of fun and faith.
On our first full day together we adventured into the Derbyshire countryside where we walked to the Crich Stand, had a picnic lunch and discussed questions in our small group in order to know each other better.
We created night prayers in our small groups that we delivered to each other to end our day together.
On Thursday we worked together in groups to sell handmade products in order to gain money to learn about CAFOD and Fairtrade. The task was made more challenging by natural disasters stopping production, making the teams unable to produce products. This situation helped us to understand the hardships of being a manufacturer dealing with unfair trading and natural disasters.
We spent time in our small groups discussing Fairtrade and decorating letters to form a banner that we used to decorate our mass.
On our last evening together we celebrated the community we had formed with mass and then a talent show in which many talents were displayed including singing, playing musical instruments and stand up comedy.
